Bristol Manor Farm finally overcame their opponents and the torrential conditions with two second half goals to seal the three points.
The Portwaymen took the lead in the 11th minute when skipper Jordan Metters cut a sweet reverse pass into the path of Troy Simpson who pushed the ball forward before hitting a slide-rule finish across Ciaran Clarke into the far corner.
The lead lasted for just three minutes when Ashley Clarke in the Manor Farm goal brought down Lewis Bamford as he broke dangerously into the penalty area. Skipper Andy Lewis stepped up to convert cooly from the spot.
Five minutes later the home side got their noses back in front when Troy Simpson scored his second goal of the game with a deftly lifted lobbed volley over the advancing keeper to make the score 2-1.
Manor Farm saw their lead stripped away for a second time when Lloyd Mills was adjudged to have fouled in the box in the 24th minute and once again Andy Lewis equalised from 12 yards with similar poise to his first.
The wet conditions became perilous for defenders and Farm’s Jamie Turner conceded a free kick in a dangerous position twenty five yards out. Fortunately for the home side the defensive wall did it’s job and Sammie Hicks wasted a good chance when he blasted the rebound high and wide.
Both teams pressed forward in search of a third goal and Farm defender Lloyd Mills had to make a great challenge deep inside his own box. Farm attacked back straight away with Troy Simpson taking a long, cross-field ball neatly on his chest but the Farm striker couldn’t find the telling delivery that Dean Stamp, arriving in the box, required. A minute later it was Mills again having to make a last-ditch interception at the other end.
In a rainswept second half it was Manor Farm who forced the upper hand with Iain Harvey and Jack Durrant at the heart of central midfield particularly impressive. It was good work down the right wing by Durrant that set up Jordan Metters in the 67th minute, playing a nice ball inside the back four and the Farm skipper producing a great moment of skill, waltzing inside two Cinderford defenders before seeing his shot take a deflection past Clarke for 3-2.
Lewis Bamford drilled a free kick wide of the post on 71 minutes as the visitors sought desperately for a third equaliser. Their task was rendered unmanageable when Farm clinched the three points 12 minutes from time when Metters turned provider for Dean Stamp who shot unerringly across Clarke into the far corner for 4-2.
