Bristol Manor Farm were left scratching their heads as to how the points eluded them following a pulsating Bristol derby at Cossham Street. Played on a heavy pitch which saw plenty of tackles flying in early, the visitors went close to scoring on 12 minutes when Dean Stamp won the ball back at the dead ball line before cutting it back to Troy Simpson whose shot was hit straight at the keeper. A good run by starting midfielder Iain Harvey on 17 minutes forced a corner for the Farm and when the ball came back into the box from the second phase, central defender Lloyd Mills saw his firm header go inches wide of the post. Ben Bament then had a good shot from the left turned behind for a corner before Mangotsfield took the lead with a breakaway goal just before the half hour mark. Kane Simpson played the ball from right to left to Kalian Gould with many in the crowd appealing for offside but the Mango’s number 10 kept his head before shooting back across goalkeeper Ashley Clarke into the net. Just before half-time a mis-hit clearance by Clarke was picked up by Gould in a central position who fed Jordan Ricketts on the right and the wingers cross was poked in from one yard by Kane Simpson sliding in at the far post to give the ‘Field a 2-0 lead at the interval. Farm got right back into the game in the opening minute of the second half when good work down the right by Troy Simpson was rewarded when Dean Stamp squeezed home at the near post. When former Farm player Lewis Powell was red carded for the home side following a late tackle just past the hour mark the home side retreated deep into their own half and Manor Farm threw the virtual kitchen sink at the Mango’s goal in search of a leveller. Simpson fed Stamp in the box but the Farm No 9 blazed over from close range. Full back Aron Robbins slammed the outside of the post with a rising shot with fifteen minutes left to play and Stamp screwed just wide from a Jordan Metters pass with under ten to go. Urged on by great vocal support behind the goal, Farm, for all their dominance, just could not get the ball over the line. Lloyd Mills had a great chance following a corner on 84 minutes from close range but his shot flew agonisingly over and a Dean Stamp header was cleared off the line with his feet in the 88th minute by goalkeeper George Dorrington, whose net continued to lead a charmed life as time ticked away.
