Stoke Gifford Utd 1 - 4 Bristol Manor Farm Reserves

Manor Farm were desperate to move on from last week's disappointing loss to Seymour United by trying to book their place into a quarter final. Manor Farm started the game very brightly and dominated the play and enjoyed larged amounts of possession. Billy Mitchell and new strike partner Rhys Hastings were causing trouble up front and looked as though it was only a matter of time before they carved open the Stoke Gifford defence. Manor Farm piled on masses of pressure and were playing some fantastic football along the way. Manor Farm were finally rewarded for their hard work when Billy Mitchell was brought down in the penalty area. Joe Black confidently stood up to take the penalty and made no mistake to give the Farm a 1-0 lead over his former team. Manor Farm were looking very comfortable and looked solid in the defence. 5 minutes later Manor Farm should have been awarded yet another penalty when Billy Mitchell was brought down again however the referee was not interested. They took a deserved lead going into the break but may feel hard done by not to be ahead by more.

After the break Manor Farm continued where they left off and continued to create chances and enjoyed being in control of the game. However against the run of play Stoke Gifford equalised when former Farm player Carl Rutter converted from 6 yards to make it 1-1. Manor Farm reacted very well and continued to pile on the pressure. Manor Farm took a justified lead when Billy Mitchell clamly placed the ball past the Stoke Gifford keeper to make it 2-1. Minutes later the Farm's lead was increased further when Rhys Hastings outpaced the defence to slot home a calmly finished 1 on 1 with the keeper. Manor Farm looked very comfortable and were knocking the ball round very well. The cup tie was put to bed when an excellent individual piece of skill from Rhys Douglas led to a fantastic finish from what seemed to be an impossible angle to make it 4-1.

Manor Farm can be very pleased with a very well deserved victory. Farm showed how good they can be on their day and will be waiting eagerly to see who they draw in the quarter final of the Gloucestershire Senior Amateur Cup. Man of the Match: Joe Black.

Bristol Manor Farm Reserves 0 - 1 Seymour United

Manor Farm got off to a most disastrous start when they conceded possesion in the middle of the pitch to allow a Seymour counter attack within the first 3 minutes to make it 1-0. Manor Farm struggled to get into gear early on but half way through the second half they started to enjoy lengthy spells of possession. However Manor Farm failed to created any clear cut chances as they struggled for ideas in the final 3rd.

Manor Farm started the second half brightly but continued to struggle to find a break through with a very organised and solid Seymour defence. Seymour continued to frustrate Manor Farm as they played a very deep line making it harder for Manor Farm to penetrate in search of an equaliser. As far as the second half goes, chances were limited for both sides and Seymour managed to hold out to take all 3 points.

Greyfriars Athletic 2 - 3 Bristol Manor Farm Reserves

This encounter would sure to be a contest for the reserves as the playing surface was not suited to their free flowing football. Manor Farm took the lead half way through the first half when Joe Black's free kick was converted through a Joe Love header. Manor Farm would given a scare as the referee awarded a penalty for a Manor Farm high foot. However it was placed well wide keeping the farm 1-0 ahead at half time.

Early on in the second half Greyfriars were awarded another penalty and Manor farm were down to 10 men as Dean Willmor picked up a second yellow for a handball on the line. This time Greyfriars made no mistake from the spot to make it 1-1. Manor Farm reacted very well to this set back and continued to pile pressure onto the home team as they desperately wanted three points. Manor Farm were awarded a penalty when some good football led to a foul in the box. Joe Black calmly converted the penalty to give Manor Farm the lead. Minutes later farm increased their lead when Billy Mitchell fired home from just inside the box. Greyfriars scored 10 minutes from time to leave a nervy end to the game for Manor Farm. However they defended very well and kept Greyfriars out for a very hard fought and deserved victory.

Bristol Manor Farm Reserves 4 - 0 Clevedon United

Manor Farm knew they were in for a real task in this cup tie as they faced Somerset County league side Clevedon United. The game started very evenly with both teams looking comfortable on the ball and not giving away possession easily. Clevedon were pushing forward in search of a goal when Manor Farm broke forward for Billy Mitchell to take advantage of a defensive error giving the Farm a 1-0 lead early on in the game. Manor Farm continued to put Clevedon under pressure and their hard work and good football led to a second goal when a through ball from Dan Dunt was calmly converted into the top corner by Joe Love to double Manor Farm's advantage going into the break.

Manor Farm looked to tighten up their defence and not let Clevedon have a chance to get themselves back in the game. However they were given a lifeline when some sloppy defending straight after the break should have led to a goal for the visitors. Farm continued to press in search of a third goal to kill the game off. That goal finally came when Joe Black's corner was converted by a Joe Love header at the back post with some dispute of whether it crossed the line or not making it 3-0. Manor Farm wrapped up the tie when some clever play from Dan Dunt and Joe Black on the left hand side led to a clever finish from Dan Dunt to make it 4-0 putting the cup tie out of reach for the visitors.

Manor Farm can be very pleased with their convincing victory over a side in a higher league. They can now look forward to the next round in both the Somerset Cup and GFA Cup.

Olveston United 1 - 2 Bristol Manor Farm Reserves

Manor Farm started the 2nd round of the cup encounter in traditional style as they started the game with some fantastic football but fell a goal behind through some very sloppy defending. Manor Farm continued to control possession but failed to convert this into any clear cut chances. Manor Farm could consider themselves unlucky to be going a goal down at the break.

Manor Farm continued to control the game in the second half and a lovely cross from Marcus Revill fell into the path of Jack Trott who calmly placed the ball into the goal to make it 1-1. Manor Farm were looking the more likely to take the lead and did so when Joe Black's corner was converted at the back post with a Joe Love header to put the Farm ahead. Manor Farm did well to keep Olveston out in the last 10 minutes as they threw everything they could in search of an equaliser.

Manager Mark Love can be very pleased with his side's progress as they battled hard and played some excellent football to secure their place in the next round of the GFA Senior amateur cup.

Bristol Manor Farm Reserves 15 - 0 Made For Ever

Manor Farm ran rampant as they faced bottom of the league Made For Ever. Manor farm won in fantastic style with some brilliant football and goals along the way. Luke Clarke completed a double hat-trick with 4 goals in the first half and another 2 in the second to round off a fantastic display from the Manor Farm striker. Billy Mitchell finished the game with 4 goals and provided excellent movement and link up play with fellow striker Clarke. Joe Love opened his scoring account with 2 goals and Brad Abraham, Sam Rees and a Dean Graham penalty rounded off the 15-0 win. Allthough weak opposition, nothing can be taken away from how well Manor Farm played as they took all three points in emphatic style.

Bristol Manor Farm Reserves 0 - 2 Shaftesbury Crusade

Manor Farm looked to build on their well earned victory last week away to Highridge by taking on high flying Shaftsbury. Manor Farm started the game a little shaky and took a good ten minutes to get into their game and settle down. From then on Manor Farm domiated the game as well as possession and enjoyed some great football much to the delight of manager Mark Love. However Manor Farm lacked the cutting edge to hurt Shaftsbury in the final third. Manor Farm created little chances but could be happy with how they played in the first half. The teams went in 0-0 at the break and it was evident that Manor Farm needed to create opportunites to have something to show for with their great flowing football.

After the break Manor Farm finally created some good chances. Jamie Adams' effort was blocked from close range which would of give Manor Farm the lead. Jamie Adams' came one on one with the keeper after Joe Love slid the ball through to him but a great save from the Shaftsbury keeper denied Manor Farm breaking the deadlock. Some sloppy defending from a corner from Manor Farm led to Shaftsbury scoring from close range to make it 1-0. Manor Farm struggled to reply to this knockback as they looked shaky in their play with Shaftsbury becoming more comfortable on the ball. A sloppy back pass from the Manor Farm defence allowed Shaftsbury to doulbe their lead as they struck from inside the area giving Dean Graham no chance between the sticks.

Manor Farm will be very disappointed that they failed to capatilise on their possession and lovely football to create many chances. Manor Farm struggled in the final 3rd on the pitch which proved very costly in the end.

Highridge United 2 - 3 Bristol Manor Farm Reserves

Manor farm headed into another away league game knowing they would be up against tough opposition. Manor Farm started the game very brightly and were passing the ball well which was more like the football that they are used to playing. Manor farm controlled the game but failed to create many chances. A lapse of concentration allowed Highridge through on a one-on-one with keeper Dean Graham and the striker made no mistake firing Highridge into the lead. Manor farm could consider theirselves very unlucky as they domiated the first half and the goal came against the run of play. However Manor farm didn't let this effect them and responded very well as they searched for an equaliser.

Straight after the restart Manor farm scored when Billy Mitchell pounced on the ball and scored with a diving header after Dave Watkins hit the bar. This was the perfect start for Manor farm and they showed their intent to go on and grab another. Half way through the second half Manor Farm were awarded a penalty when Joe Love was handled in the box whilst flicking on a header. Joe Black stood up and took responsibility as he made no mistake with the penalty scoring in the bottom right hand corner sending the keeper the wrong way. Manor farm were looking comfortable and confident of claiming the 3 points. However a fumble from Dean Graham allowed Highridge the equalise making it all square at 2-2. Manor farm continued to control the game and looked in desperation for the winner. The winner came 10 minutes from time when Joe Black's Corner was brilliantly converted by Ben Murray at the back post.

AEK Boco 4 - 0 Bristol Manor Farm Reserves

Manor farm visited high flying Boco in what was sure to be a tough and physical game. Manor Farm failed to start the game to their usual standards and some sloppy play led to an own goal by Jack Wilmor. Manor Farm struggled to get a grip of the game as Boco's physical presence proved evident as they further their lead shortly after. Before half time Boco scored another making it 3-0 at the break.

Manor Farm started the second half brightly and looked to grab an early goal to give them any belief of what would be a tremendous comeback. However Manor farm failed to clear a corner which lead to Boco firing home from a short distance from goal to make it 4-0 making a comeback look to far out of reach. Manor farm enjoyed a spell of some good fluent football but failed to capatilise in the final third. Manor farm played some good football in the second half and may feel hard done by as the score didn't quite reflect the game.

Bristol Manor Farm Reserves 2 - 2 Henbury Reserves

13th September 2011

Manor Farm Reserves started the game very brightly with some good passing and quality football all around. Manor Farm were unlucky not to take the lead when Ben Murrays header struck the crossbar from a Joe Black corner. All of Manor farm's good work failed to materialise into any goals or chances and against the run of play Henbury capatilised on a defensive error and opened the scoring through Jack Mills to make it 1-0. This seemed to effect Manor Farm's performance for the following ten minutes, however the farm regrouped and started to play their flowing attacking football again. Manor Farm eventually equalised just before half time with a well taken goal from Sam Rees making it all square as the teams went in for half time.

The second half started with both sides having even possession of the ball and Manor Farm eventually taking the lead in the 70th minute and were then pressing for a third to put the game to bed. The Farm were now in control of the game but a lapse in concentration at the back led to Henbury equalising in the 80th minute through Josh Phillips to make it 2-2. Manor Farm didn't let their heads drop and carried on with their game and looked likely to grab 3 points in the dying minutes.

The Game finished 2-2 and was a very physical game where it was evident that both sides desperately wanted the 3 points. The reserves look forward to building a cup run as they face Lawrence Rovers away on Saturday.

Oldland Abbotonians 1 - 1 Bristol Manor Farm Reserves

Manor Farm looked to build on their great start to their campaign by taking on a well organised and young Oldland side. Oldland came fast out of the blocks, clearly showing their presence and intent to put Manor Farm on the back foot. Both teams were passing the ball round well but Oldland failed to take their chances as they stuck the crossbar and post 3 times during the first half. Manor farm failed to create many chances of their own, however they soon got into their stride and were beginning to look dangerous on the attack but failed to capatalise. Manor Farm went in 0-0 at the break and could consider theirselves quite fortunate not to be a goal down.

Manor Farm's second half got off to the most disastrous start as they went 1-0 down just after the restart. Manor Farm reacted very well to this knockback as they took the game to Oldland and enjoyed spells of possession and seemed to up their game as they searched for an equaliser. Manor Farm's dominance finally paid off when Jack Trott fired home from inside the penalty box making it all square at 1-1. The game was made very interesting as both sides were playing some great football in desperation to take the lead. Some poor defending from Manor Farm allowed Oldland a one on one which was superbly saved by Aiden Hill who kept Manor Farm in the game. Manor Farm were unlucky not to find a goal towards the second half as they finished the game on top.

The game was played in great spirit between two very young footballing sides who can both consider theirselves pleased with a point a peice. Mark Love's side showed great character and should be full of confidence going into tuesday's game at home to Henbury Reserves.

Seymour Utd 1 - 3 Bristol Manor Farm Reserves

The return of the reserve team kicked off in truly remarkable style as Mark Love's young side settled into the game quickly with some fantastic football. Manor Farm dominated possession and were playing fast flowing football, not giving the opposition a chance to stamp their mark on the game. A build up of possession and pressure from Manor Farm finally lead to a 1-0 lead when Eddie Hime fired home from inside the penalty box. Manor Farm looked full of confidence and continued to frustrate Seymour with their movement and ability to keep the ball well. Manor Farm took advantage of this spell by doubling their lead when Joe Black's corner was converted by Aaron Jones from 6 yards to make it 2-0. The young side were in full flow and looked to be running away with the game untill Seymour grabbed a goal back with a cleverly finished header just before half time, making it 2-1.

After the break Seymour came out strong looking to kick start a comeback. Manor farm didn't seem to start the half as well as they finished the first, however they enjoyed a spell of possession and started to get back into their stride regaining control of the game. Their persistence finally paid off when Eddie Hime grabbed his second of the game making it 3-1 and giving the Farm some breathing space. Manor Farm continued to control the game and kept the ball well and were very unfortunate not to further their lead.

This was a very positive and impressive performance from the very youthful side giving them and manager Mark Love a lot to look forward to this season.
